If you are staying on Disney Property, the choice is huge for where you’d like to stay as your base for the duration.
The first thing you want to consider is the price. Obviously, the more you pay, the more you get but is it worth the difference?
On our second trip to Florida, we stayed in All Star Music (Value) for a week then had a break down at a beach resort to recharge our batteries and rest and then spent the final two days at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (Deluxe) for the final couple of days.
We loved the first week, the room was fine, the service was great and so we had really high hopes for our deluxe resort for the final two days.
In reality though, we didn’t feel that we had a much better stay in the deluxe resort compared to the value one. i.e. if it was 3 times the price, the stay wasn’t 3 times as good.
We did love it, it was nice to have better quality furnishings, bigger room, more facilities, a MUCH better lobby, restaurants etc but if we were on a budget, we would choose to stay in a Value resort but only sleep there and go and dine at all the deluxe ones.
Our next visit scheduled for October/November 2018 includes a few days at Disney’s top deluxe resort, The Grand Floridian, so we’ll be able to report back as to whether that was worth the money or not.Category: Accommodation
Should we stay in a Disney Hotel or save money and stay off-site?
We’ve done both and the choice really comes down to what you can afford.
If you’re on a tight budget, staying in a cheaper property makes complete sense. After all, you’re not going to spend all day in your hotel room, you’ll be in the parks won’t you?
Our very first visit in 1994 saw us staying in a budget motel at the furthest end of the US192 and took us 40 minutes each morning at least to drive to Disney. That said, we had a great holiday and had no regrets.
The next time we visited, we stayed for a week at Disney’s All Star Music resort and enjoyed all the differences that you get when you choose to stay “On property”
The room was more expensive for the size/quality than staying off-site but the themeing was great, the transport was great, the extra magic hours was great and things like having purchases sent back to your resort were also really handy.
So, it is your choice. You’ll have a great holiday either way. If it is your first visit, I’d look at saving money by staying off-property and that may just allow you to stay longer or buy more park tickets. If you’ve been before, I’d highly recommend staying on-property.Category: Accommodation
